The skin care process during the warm season is achieved with minimum effort using the wide array of fresh fruits and vegetables available. Depending on their composition, you can use them to make natural cosmetic treatments by slicing them, or crushing them, or by using their juice.
Here are a few fruits and vegetables that are easy to find which you can use to make your very own cost-efficient cosmetic treatments at home:
Carrot. Used on their own (you can either make juice out of them or grate them) or blended with face cream. It does wonders for sensitive skins and also helps treating rosacea (redness). Due to the fact that it is rich in vitamin A, carrot juice softens and revitalizes the skin.
Tomatoes. Because of their acid properties tomatoes are recommended in the treatment of acne, for oily skin, and also to shrink large pores. To use them for your skin, simply slice a ripe tomato very thin and apply the slices on your skin. Let it act for at least 10 minutes and then rinse thoroughly with warm water.
Tomato juice is also recommended for dry skin. However, after rinsing, apply moisturizer.
Strawberries. Crush a few strawberries directly on your skin or in a bowl and then apply the puree on your skin. Let it dry and then rinse with warm water. Use this mask 2-3 times a week on clean skin. For oily skin, mix the strawberries with lemon juice.
Peaches, nectarines and apricots. Use them as such, applying fresh fruit slices on the skin clean. They make very good natural treatment for oily skin, and they also help with treating blackheads or acne.
Melon. The melon juice is considered to be a very good skin revitalizer. You can use it as a toner, after a long night of staying awake.
Banana. The banana mask is considered to be a very good treatment for dry skin. Mix half a tablespoon of mashed banana with a tablespoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice. Apply the mask and leave it on for 15 minutes and the rinse. Banana is considered to be efficient in preventing wrinkles, and it makes the skin look younger at first use.
Cucumbers. Due to their exceptional properties, cucumbers are highly used in skin masks. Even the most renowned spa facilities use them. Slice a cucumber and gently massage your skin with it. After an hour rinse or wipe your face with a cotton pad soaked in rose water.
For dry or dehydrated skin, mix the juice from one cucumber with olive oil and apply the mixture on your face. Remove it using a cotton pad soaked in chamomile tea.
To make cucumber cleansing lotion, mix the juice from one cucumber with a tablespoon of yogurt. Apply the mixture on your face and neck and let it act for 10 minutes. Rinse with warm water.
